Three for You Punch box and Ribbon Swap!

Tomorrow is the last day for getting the free package of textured love notes when you order the punch box so on that note, I thought I'd post a card that I made with it!  This was a pretty simple design that we did at my August Stamp 'til you Cramp....I try to keep them a bit more simple so as not to overwhelm people before they are finished doing their 6 cards, lol.... I once almost killed someone before I figured that out, only it was 10 cards at the time....I'm surprised she ever came back!  .....right Susan?

I stamped the Wasabi background using the Linen background stamp with Wasabi ink.  The Groovy Guava piece was stamped randomly with Guava ink using the single flower stamp from the Three For You punch box and then I punched out the flowers in the center.   Then on a piece of scrap whisper white, I stamped the solid flowers with Soft Sky ink....these flowers are all nicely aligned on the same stamp so don't go thinking that I stamped these perfect all on my own or anything, lol....On top of those flowers I stamped the outline flower in guava ink, and then lined this piece up behind the punched out flowers and stuck them tight with my SNAIL adhesive.   Once that was done I distressed the edges of the guava paper with my cutter kit and stuck it onto the card front.  The sentiment is also from the punch box and is stamped in Wasabi ink.  The three flowers at the bottom were punched out using soft sky and river rock cardstock which I attached to the cardfront with a silver brads through the center of each.   Lastly I embellished the top with a piece of double stitched ribbon in soft sky.  The whole card front was now attached to the river rock card base.

Each swapper will receive approx. 1.5 yards of each Whisper White, Kraft, Chocolate Chip, Mellow Moss, Bashful Blue and Pretty in Pink taffeta ribbon.

Group Two: Double Stitched Ribbon - $14.58

Each swapper will receive approx. 2.5 yards of double stitched ribbon in Blue Bayou, Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi, River Rock, Groovy Guava and Purely Pomegranate.

Group Three: 1/4 " Grosgrain - Neutrals - $7.87

Each swapper will receive approx. 5 yards of Black, Whisper White and Very Vanilla grosgrain ribbon.

Group Four: 1/4" Grosgrain -Assortment 1 - $7.87

Each swapper will receive approx 2.5 yards of Pumpkin Pie, Apricot Appeal, Real Red, Elegant Eggplant, Tempting Turquoise, Certainly Celery ribbon.

Wanted! Pop Up Accordion card and the Crop-o-dile

This is a card that I taught to my downline at the beginning of August, I've been meaning to post it for awhile now but we've been spending some time away from Stony Plain, camping and enjoying what is left of our summer!   One of the great things about living in the tri-municipal area is that there so many small lakes and campgrounds right close by that we don't have to travel too far from home :)  But I digress, lol......

This was so easy to make!  The front is just a regular card, but it has to be tied closed with ribbon because it is quite thick.  I used our new double stitched ribbon in River Rock. The paper is the new Outlaw Designer Series paper and it goes so well with the Wanted stamp set and the Scallop punch!  I couldn't imagine trying to cut that out, the scallop punch and this set are just made for each other.  Now if you are wondering how I made those small circles just above the ribbon, I did that with my Crop-o-dile!  It was one of the nifty little tricks I learned at convention this year.

Here's how to set your Crop o Dile:

On the block on the left in the picture, my finger is pointing to the corner of the block, where you will see a number 1.  The pen is pointing to the other block where you will see a letter D.  When your crop-o-dile is set up this way you will make a "divot" in the card stock rather than a hole.  You'll want to make sure that the post is pressing down, not up, for the divets to poke out the front of the card...other wise they will be "innies" instead of "outies", lol....(like my daughter likes to describe her belly button!)  To space the divots I made sure the cardstock was as far into the tool as it could go to keep the line straight and then to space the divots you line up the left hand side of the block with the right hand side of the previous divot as you move along down the line.  And just a quick tip, you don't need to press hard to achieve this affect.  Neat huh!! 

I also used my crop-o-dile to set the jumbo eyelet on the front of the card.

The inside of the card was created by following the tutorial at splitcoast stampers.

Stamps:  Wanted, Paisley background stamp

Cardstock: Sage, River Rock, Chocolate Chip, Outlaw Designer series paper

Ink:  VersaMark (for the paisley background on the card front), Chocolate Chip

Accessories: Jumbo eyelets, river rock double stitched ribbon, jumbo eyelets in antique brass, circle cutter, scallop punch, crop-o-dile

It's Snow time!.....well nearly so..... :)

Here's another a card I made for a Christmas card swap using some of the new In color's and printed paper. 

To make this card you need:

• Crystal effects
• dazzling diamonds gliltter
• black Stazon ink
• aquapainter
• Blue Bayou, Purely Pomegranate, Soft Sky Classic inks
• White Craft Ink
• Soft sky, Blue Bayou, Whisper White, shimmery white cardstock
• Purely Pomegranate Prints Designed Paper
• White grosgrain ribbon
• silver brads
• It's Snow Time! Stamp set
• Bold snowflakes jumbo wheel
• White jumbo ink cartridge (or just roll it in the white craft pad)

1. Ink up the jumbo wheel with white ink and roll onto a 3 3/4" x 2 3/4" piece of soft sky cardstock(This measurement is up to you really depending on how much blue you want).  Adhere it to a piece of  4 x 5 1/4" Whisper White cardstock, near the bottom.
2. Attach a piece of printed paper approximately 3 3/4" x 2 1/2" onto the whisper white base above the soft sky piece.  These two layers will slightly overlap.  Tie the piece of grosgrain ribbon around this piece at the overlap and knot it as shown.
3. The snowman is stamped on a piece of shimmery white cardstock cut 2" x 2 3/4" using stazon.  Watercolor the image using the ink from the ink pads (squish them when they are closed and pick the ink up off the lid)
4. Add a drop of CE to each snowball and sprinkle on dazzling diamonds glitter, shaking off the excess.  Lyer this onto a piece of Blue Bayou cut 2 1/4 x 3".  Stick this to the base from step 2 then place your brads.  I used my piercing guide to do this.
5. Stamp the sentiment on the front with black ink, and layer the entire card front onto a Blue Bayou card base 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded in half.

It seems like a lot of steps but it's really worth it, this card is too cute!  Enjoy!

A taste of Christmas!

Here's something that I did in preparation for my upcoming Christmas card workshops....and yes, it was also a convention swap, lol....

  The stamp set I used for this card is called the Snowflake Spot.  The large image is actually embossed with gold onto Shimmery paper so it really sparkles in real life!  The circles on the left are stamped with Purely Pomagranate and Always Artichoke ink on shimmery paper then punched out and layered, using the 1", 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" punches, onto artichoke and gold metallic cardstock.

The pomagranate card base was randomly stamped with versamark using the medium sized snowflake in the set and the sentiment is stamped with metallic gold ink.

Christmas is closer than you think!

It's a new look!

I'm sprucing up my blog a bit and I would love to get some feedback about what I have got so far!  I am still trying to figure out how to center the banner (baby steps!) and getting the colors right is freaking me out a bit, but I know I'll get there eventually!   All constructive criticism is welcome!

Versa Mark Resist

Here's another  card I swapped at convention...I know , I know, you're thinking "Just how many cards did she swap???   What a freak!"  lol okay, I'll admit.....it was "a few" !   This card uses the Versa Mark Resist or "Ghosting" technique.

In this example, the square piece has been stamped using the VersaMark resist technique :

1. On glossy paper, stamp the desired image in Versa Mark ink, leaving some open spaces.  In this sample I stamped the large five pointed flower from the In the Spotlight Hostess set.
2. Add color to the glossy paper.  I used celery ink by applying it with a brayer.  You could also use sponges or daubers.
3. Allow to dry for a few moments and then wipe off excess ink over the flowers with a tissue.  They will have resisted the ink and should appear whiter.
4. Stamp in the blank spaces using the same or similar stamp in the open spaces using a complimentary color.  In this sample I used Purely Pomegranate and Groovy Guava!

More swaps from convention!

This frame was a find from the dollar store believe it or not....it was just a pink frame with the UGLIEST white mat that I had ever seen!!  It just screamed FIX ME!  lol....so I felt obligated to oblige :)

The top picture shows more of the glitter but it is kind of dark so the picture below is more representative of how it looks without the glare!

I made 20 of these for the Stamp Camp 3D swap...I had to bring a HUGE suitcase to get them there...luckily that made room for all the shopping  my roomies and I did, lol.... you can see THAT picture at Sheri's blog!   I had to rearrange my suitcase and carryon bag at the airport because it was over weight!   In Homer Simpson's words....D'OH!!

The images are stamped using white craft ink and then heat embossed with white powder.   Once that was cool I used crystal effects to add dazzling diamonds glitter....because anyone who knows me, knows that I am attracted to shiny things, lol....like a bird!  I used mod podge to stick the Soft sky printed paper to the ugly white mat and added the ribbon and hardware with sticky strip.
