Halloween Hoopla!

I've been working on some 6 x 6 pages today for an upcoming scrapbook class I'm offering.  It's a one day class where we'll make a double page spread for each month of the year, a title page and a back page, they make an wonderful gift for that hard to buy for grandmother or mother in law!  Today I was working on my October layout.  I really wanted to use the Carved and Candlelit stamp set and the Creepy Crawly designer paper for this layout as I just don't really make that many Halloween cards.....okay NONE in fact, lol!   So here's the layout:

It's hard to tell from the pictures but the center pumpkin on the left page and the pumpkin on the right page are both popped out using stampin' dimensionals, as are the photo corners.  To give the pumpkins a bit more contrast I stamped them first in pumpkin ink and then rolled the edges in Really Rust.  It was a real pain to cut out those stems, I won't be doing THAT too often!

Cardstock:  Basic Black, Pumpkin, Confetti Cream, Pumpkin textured for photo corners, creepy crawly designer paper

Ink:  Pumpkin, Really Rust, Always Artichoke, Basic Black

Gift Register!

Now we all know that Christmas is about the giving and not the receiving....but has anyone ever not once been even a teensy bit disappointed when they didn't find what they really wanted under the tree?  Let's be honest ladies, we can be guilty of sending mixed messages to our hubbies and sometimes they are not so great at figuring us out on there own, lol.....

Download and print the form below and fill it in.  I need to know your potential gift givers name and contact information away from home....like a work number, email or cell phone.  Send your list to me either by snail mail or scan it and email it back to me.  I will contact the person on the form, and ask them if they'd like to purchase your gift from the list.  They can pay with a credit card or by paypal....I'll have it shipped to my house so that I can wrap and deliver it to them if local to me or it can be sent to them directly at work.  Whatever works, we'll figure it out between us :)  It's a win win arrangement!  They don't have to brave the malls on Christmas eve and you get what you want!

And here's a little 6 x 6 page to help get you thinking about Christmas!  Doesn't it drive you nuts that the Christmas stuff is already showing up in stores and we haven't even gotten past Halloween or thanksgiving yet?!?  I'm just trying to keep up, lol!

This page uses the Season of Joy stamp set from the Holiday mini and the Holiday Harmony designer paper.   The color of the ribbon in the picture is kind of off but it's the Artichoke colored wide ribbon from the Theater Ribbon originals.

Brocade Basics Part 2!

Here's the second page we did the other night!  This one's my favorite :) 

Again....a good example of Progressive scrapbooking using Brocade Basics.  Here's a close up of the      6 x 6 part so that you can get a better look at it.  The border at the bottom is layered with two patterns from the Brocade Background designer series paper with Old Olive.  I used the corner rounder punch with the guide removed to make the border. As a finishing touch I sponged the edges of all the pieces with chocolate chip ink.

Now I just have to put some pictures on it!  ......it'll be a shame to cover up some of that nice patterned paper, lol....

Brocade Beautiful

It's been awhile since I posted anything with scrapbooking so I figured now would be a good time, lol.....Last Wednesday I had my downline meeting at the house and the girls had expressed a desire to focus on scrapbooking so here is the first project we did:

This was made using the printed paper frrom the holiday mini, Holiday Harmony and the Brocade Basics stamp set.  This is an example of Progressive Scrapbooking.  Basically you start with a 6 x 6 page, build it into an 8 1/2" x 11" page and stack that onto a 12 x 12 page.  When I'm doing a progressive page, I like to use a minimum of 2 patterns for printed paper and 3 colors.  When they are layered, and you add the embellishments you get a beautiful page that is full of interest and dimension.  For added texture to this page I added a buckle onto the satin ribbon, added some dry embossed divots onto both the top edge of the pomegranate card stock and bottom of the 12 x 12 artichoke card stock (click here for the tutorial on that!), the photo corner is popped out with dimensionals and the scalloped circles are held together with Rhinestone brads from the pretties kit and placed onto the page again, with dimensionals. 

Remember that when you have a page that contains hard embellishments, to place them carefully so that they will not rub on the pictures on the opposite side of the book and that scrapbooks should always be stored standing, not lying down, this helps to prevent any embellishments from damaging your pictures.  And that's really what it's all about right?....the pictures!  Yeah, yeah...I'll add some soon, lol.....
